Olivia tells us about her favourite Scottish gin, Rock Rose.
Published: 13 October, 2021
One of our own bartenders Olivia, choose her favourite Scottish gin to write about today and she chose Rock Rose Gin from Dunnet Bay Distillery in Caithness. Here is what she had to say:-
'What I love about Rock Rose other than the astonishing flavours is just how much work is being put into it. With each bottle being hand wax sealed and signed by the distiller. It’s named after one of the main botanicals “Rhodiola Rosea”, which translates to Rock Rose and the rest of the main botanicals that are featured in this particular gin is representative botanicals of Caithness. (Support local!)
The company help the environment by coming up with a plan of how to recycle their unbreakable (believe me I tried) bottles. For instance, you can buy a pump that fits the bottle and turn it into a soap dispenser! We also all know some bottles make a fantastic flower vase, no exemption here. When you subscribe to their gin, instead of sending out a new bottle they will send you a pouch to replenish your “decanter” and due to their no waste ideology - you can then put the pouch into a post box and it finds its way back to the distillery to be used again! Amazing!
Our Rock Rose gin is served with an orange slice and toasted rosemary, which is one of my favourite herbs. The aroma and unique taste it has just makes me wanna put it in every drink and meal I make.'
